hi anyone..
I am a final year BE student

I was asking this question , actually I wanted to go for Java EE website as my major project.

So thinking of making an E commerce wesite with struts as controller and EJB at the business layer.
But my teahcer says that he was not sure how much EJB is used in industry and would it be useful to work on it.So shall I use EJB or not(or can u suggest me some other option at busines layer)?

Another thing since for now I am good mainly in servlets and jsp , I was thinking shall I work on a Open Source Project as servlet, jsp developer and present it in college as my major project?
Do you know sites for java EE Open source projects which i can work on?

Last thing I was thinking of using Eclipse + Oracle as IDE and back-end respectively will it be right?
or i shall go for some other ID and database?

thanks,
Parth

You coud find best open source products www.findbestopensource.com .

1. Since it is a final year project, and the time available will be less, my advice is to pick technology which you are familar with.
2. The topic you select is most important than the programming language / other tools being used.
3. Select Eclipse / Netbeans as IDE and MySQL as backend as they are open source
4. You could take any open source project, enhance it and present it as your final year project. If you have done any good enhancement, give it back to the community.

sometimes, if the lisence is GPL, you can modify it also
